You give them something to eat

I like this story from the Bible and I have often preached about it. But the sentence which drew my attention these last weeks was this one: “You give them something to eat.”

And I am as surprised as the disciples by Jesus’ words. The followers had already left everything to follow Jesus and God knew full well that with what they had in their pockets they could not feed the crowd.

But Jesus’ request was meant to be an example for people to serve Him (and not be served by Him). The disciples obeyed and a miracle occurred.
